Melter Relies on Another Gen. 8 Roll to Stack Solution from Hunkeler
MMS Melter Mail Service GmbH from Mühlacker, Germany, has taken its production to the next level with a new high-performance solution from Hunkeler. In summer 2025, a custom-configured Generation 8 Roll to stack solution was commissioned, consisting of a Unwinder UW8, Cross-cutter CS8, and the Stacker module LS8-30.
This solution enables the delivery of sheets with cut lengths up to 30 inches, tailored to Melter’s requirements – especially for the production of self-mailers. “The new pile stacker simplifies workflows for our employees significantly,” explains Markus Bauer, manager at MMS Melter Mail Service GmbH. Thanks to the modular design, the existing Perforator DP8 was seamlessly integrated into the new solution – proof of the sustainability and flexibility of Hunkeler systems. The solution is a future-proof investment that offers space for continued growth.
Melter – expertise in data-driven print marketing
Melter is a full service provider for modern dialog marketing active across Europe. Founded in 1912, the family business employs around 200, producing more than 700 million personalized print products every year on 12,000 m². Its portfolio includes self-mailers, creating mailers, envelopes, inserts, and POS ads. In addition to production, Melter also offers extensive consulting and shipping services.
Partnership and perspective
The installation of the new Roll to stack solution in Mühlacker went off without a hitch, marking another milestone in the longstanding partnership between Melter and Hunkeler. The successful collaboration between the two companies began in 2019 with the installation of the first Roll to roll and a Roll to stack solution. Both the technology and the service satisfied Melter, leading to them choose Hunkeler once again for their current expansion. Markus Bauer: “Hunkeler provided close, professional support throughout all phases of the project. Together, sales and service enabled smooth, fast implementation.”
High-power production from day one – with much more to come
“The new Hunkeler solution has been integrated into our production since day 1,” says Markus Bauer, clearly pleased. “As we were already familiar with the technology, it was a quick and effective process for our employees.” The next step in the expansion will follow in October 2025: the installation of Ricoh Pro VC80000 with a Unwinder UW8 and a Rewinder RW8 from Hunkeler in the Coated Media version, designed for glossy papers with high ink coverage and grammages up to 300 g/m2. Special rollers enable a process especially gentle on both paper and ink.
