The new Rewinder RW8 sets new standards

The new Rewinder RW8 of the latest Generation 8 can process rolls up to 900 kg. With that also heavy coated offset stocks in rolls up to 1320 mm (52”) diameter and 584 mm (23”) web width can be rewound. The RW8 is heavy-duty designed for 24/7 operation, allows faster roll change due to automated setup function and has a higher production speed of up to 305 m/min. In addition, the Rewinder allows roll widths of up to 23 inch and offers easier operation compared to its predecessor in the POPP6 model line. As an additional feature, the display shows the remaining running time and running metres, which simplifies the operator’s work and increases efficiency.

The new Gen8 Rewinder RW8 offers two options for taking out paper rolls. In addition to taking out the paper rolls directly from the Rewinder with the optional available roll dolly, they can also be removed on a EURO pallet (800 mm wide x 1200 mm long).

Center cut and edge trim

With the new Hunkeler Rewinder RW8, it is now possible to slit and trim the paper roll directly on the module at maximum speed of the inline Roll to roll solution. The optional device offers several advantages, that save both, time and money. For example, standardized paper rolls can be used, that leads to savings in the purchase of paper and in inventory logistics.

Thanks to the easy insertable knives, the paper roll can be trimmed to the needs of the following post-processing. The center cut also allows different products to be placed next to each other on the web in order to use the entire width of the paper web. This allows to individually rewind the different streams and separate the rolls with a gap on the core shaft.

This option is now available for left & right hand Rewinders RW8 and in three different versions:

Center cut

Symmetrical center cut with paper weights from 55 to 320 g/m2.

Edge trim

Edge trim width is 8 – 25 mm with a possible paper weight of 55 – 320 g/m2. The edge trim is evacuated into an in-house or optional Hunkeler stand-alone waste evacuation system.

Center cut and edge trim

With this combi-solution, the center cut as well as the edge trim can be used together at the same time.
