The WI8 checks the entire web width during production, detecting print defects and jet-outs while monitoring ink density, color deviation and registration. It also verifies variable data page by page instead of relying on samples.

We’re part of the GUK OpenHouse 2026!🚀
On September 16–17 in Wellendingen, @gukfalzmaschinen will showcase innovative solutions for pharmaceutical and packaging applications – including two production lines featuring our Unwinder UW8 and Cutter CS8-II.
The live …demonstrations will highlight automated processing of digitally printed rolls into finished pharmaceutical leaflets, as well as the production of high-quality pre-folded leaflets directly from the roll.

Keep inspection running when page lengths change📄
Digital print production is all about flexibility. And when page lengths change within a production run, your inspection needs to keep up without adding unnecessary stops or setup.
That’s where DynaScan and DirectSync, two …functions of the Hunkeler Web Inspection WI8, help keep inspection running smoothly.
🔹 DynaScan – inspection for variable page lengths
DynaScan captures each page individually, from one synchronization mark to the next. This allows different page lengths to run within the same production while every page is still captured in full and available for visual evaluation.
No need to stop and reconfigure the inspection system when the page length changes.
🔹 DirectSync – synchronization directly from the printed image
DirectSync recognizes the synchronization mark from the scanner image itself. There is no additional sensor upstream of the scanner that needs to be mounted, positioned or adjusted.
Lateral web movement is compensated automatically, while OverScan provides additional image at the top and bottom of the page for inspection right to the edges.
For your production, that means less setup and fewer components while maintaining reliable inspection at production speed.
WI8 scans the entire width of the paper web and captures high-resolution images across the full surface of every page. This allows print quality and content errors to be identified early, helping you take action sooner and reduce downtime and paper waste.
